Bronn is Draft Cross gelding. He is a registered North American Courser with the North American Destrier Horse Registry. His registration number is above. Though we don’t know Bronn’s Sire and Dam, Bronn is a beautiful mix of draft, Iberian, and mainly carriage horse blood.

Great minded 3 year old Black Draft Cross gelding, Bronn stands 16.1 hands tall and weighs about 1200 lbs. Bronn is a beautiful mover with three developing balanced gaits and is very quiet and sensible when learning to experience new things. He is safe and confident outside the arena and on the trails. He does extremely well with obstacles. Bronn is developing a really solid foundation and soon will graduate from our program to be finished in any discipline you may choose! Bronn sells 100% clean and sound with no vices.
Bronn is very smart. He is super easy to train. He responds very easily and willingly to all new experiences. You’ll notice his Etalon DNA ProPanel Report explains that genetically Bronn is extremely curious…well, that is the truth! Horses can be either vigilant or curious genes wise. Vigilant horses are extremely cautious, while curious horses are typically way more easy going. Bronn is off the charts on curious! When you go to the gate and call his name, he comes running. He’s easy to catch in the pasture. He’s always talking and nickering when you’re in the barn and he’s watching you. Bronn is kind and gentle and very responsible for a young horse. We are very impressed with him as he continues to thrive in our program developing into a solid citizen.
Bronn is beautiful with his black coloring, a beautiful face and eye, and a long, thick, full black mane and tail. Bronn looks great in both Western and English tack, he’s a beautiful mover, and is a farm favorite around here. Bronn is easy to handle on the ground and is not pushy or rude to people. You can ride him around the sounds of construction, power tools like nail guns, blowers, lawn mowers, tractors, etc. Being a young horse, he stops, looks, sniffs, thinks, and then moves forward. He loves to be groomed, loves baths, treats, affection, and love. We have not body clipped Bronn. His coat has not required it. His face has been clipped. He is easy to clip, de-worm, stands politely for the vet and farrier, loads-ties-trailers-unloads, he is learning to ground tie, he cross ties very well. He prefers to live outside full time. He will come into a stall to eat and go right back out. He lives in the pasture with gelding Snoop Dog our grandaughter’s pony, who is his best friend. Our stud colt Arkyn is also a great friend of Bronn in the pasture and they often share their food with each other. We have not turned him out with mares.
Bronn is talented and athletic, he has an agreeable disposition, and willing attitude. Bronn would will make a great cow horse, he would also excel as a fox hunter, lower-level dressage horse, and is developing a solid foundation for the buttons and tools he needs to be competitive in the show ring. Bronn is currently in training 3-5 days a week and will begin fox hunting in September 2024.
Bronn goes Western and English: barrel saddle, pleasure, dressage, and hunt saddles; snaffle. Bronn rides well with other horses or goes out alone, through water, over logs or over debris, is great around vehicles, other horses, cows, cats, and barking dogs. We do not need to ride Bronn with spurs. All our horses are trained on voice-command for walk, trot, canter, and halt. We ask with our legs, seat, hands, and voice for each gait transition. His walk to trot transition is smooth, but where he is super impressive for a young horse and where he really shows his potential is his trot to canter transition. He canters on the correct lead very gently around the arena, collects and uses his body to carry himself. He goes around and around. You can mount Bronn from the block or the ground. He stands quietly once mounted until you ask him to move forward.
One of our favorite training sessions with Bronn is obstacles. We have yet to find something he doesn’t explore and accept. We love to see that in a horse. Bronn is suited for an experienced rider because he’s a young horse. He’s headed in the right direction to becoming a great partner for someone and we’re so excited to watch his journey in the years ahead.

CREK’s Evidence-Based Equine Development Program
We believe equine development is both and art and a science. To that end, CREK developed and uses a six-stage system to build solid equine citizens. All horses enter our program in Stage 1: Knowledge. We begin Stage 1 by taking a sample of hair for Etalon ProPanel+Ancestry ($329/horse) DNA testing. Next we have the horse vetted, our farrier provides hoof care, and our trainer completes the Intake: CREK Equine Scoring System Report. Upon completion, the horse moves into Stage 2: Comprehension. Here we develop a viable plan for the horse to move forward for further assessment.
Once the plan is in place, the horse moves into Stage 3: Application. This is where we get the DNA results back, execute any outstanding veterinary and farrier care action items. Then we move into Stage 4: Analysis. In Stage 4, we study the horse even further. During this phase we might consult with other experts towards learning what best practices look like for a horse of a particular makeup. We complete the horse’s “ethnogram” or “Hippology” study. Hippology is the study of horses. During our study, we analyze everything we can learn about the horse from where it lived before coming to CREK all the way to good habits and bad. Using the results of the Hippology study combined with medical and DNA information, as a comprehensive team, we draft the horse’s development plan. Using the CREK’s Scoring Checklist as a baseline for Psychology, Health, Conformation, and Performance, the horse moves into Stage 5: Synthesis where we synchronize Psychology, Health, Conformation, and Performance training. The horse is trained regularly and tested repeatedly until the horse achieves its program goals in the CREK Equine Scoring Method. Upon success, the horse is ready to graduate and moves into Stage 6: Evaluation. We fortify the horse’s developmental training success with a graduation veterinary examination and farrier hoof care. We confirm Psychology, Health, Conformation, and Performance one final time then horse graduates from our program. All in all, a horse typically completes our program within 3 to 12 months.
